師走というだけあって、あっという間にもう年末になってしまいました。
今年はまぁ大変な年でした。
私事ではありますが父親の急逝から始まり相続空き家問題と問題が山積みでしたが、何とか年内にある程度片付ける事ができました。
メンタル的にも体力的にも音楽に向かうのが少し難しい一年ではありましたが、逆に自分を見つめ直し原点に振り返り練習に集中できた年でもありました。
また人生観などを新たに考える事もできました。
人は生きてるのが当たり前ではなく死ぬのが当たり前という事、どうなりたいかではなくどう生きるかが大事。
この一年はだいぶ勉強させていただきました。
さて年末ですが、毎年恒例の新潟年越しです。
明後日は去年開催して好評でしたワークショップ第二弾を開催します。
自分がもう何十年も研究し大事にし演奏のコンセプトにしているリズムにフォーカスしたワークショップです。
海外と日本の明らかな違いがここにあります。
学校なんかではまず教えてくれない、海外に出て住んで経験して初めて知るリズムの大事さ。
このテーマを皆さんと深く探ってみましょうという内容です。
そして大晦日は毎年恒例のライブ&年越しジャムセッションです！

As it’s December, time has flown by and it’s already the end of the year.
This year has been quite a difficult one.
On a personal note, I’ve had a mountain of issues, starting with my father’s sudden passing and then inheriting an empty house, but I managed to get most of them sorted before the end of the year.
It’s been a year in which it’s been a little difficult to focus on music both mentally and physically, but on the other hand, it’s also been a year in which I’ve been able to reflect on myself, return to my roots, and concentrate on practicing.
I was also able to rethink my outlook on life.
It’s not natural for people to live, but it’s natural for them to die, and what’s important is not what you want to become, but how you live.
I’ve learned a lot over the past year.
It’s nearly the end of the year, and it’s time for our annual New Year’s Eve celebration in Niigata.
The day after tomorrow I’ll be holding the second installment of a workshop that followed last year’s success.
The workshop will focus on rhythm, something that I have studied and cherished for decades and which has become the concept of my performance.
Herein lies a clear difference between Japan and overseas.
The importance of rhythm is something that is never taught in school, and is something you only learn by living and experiencing it abroad.
I would like to explore this theme in depth with you all.
