今朝知りました。
PAT METHENY GROUPで活躍したピアニストのLYLE MAYSが66歳という若さでこの世を去りました。
アメリカに住んでいる時も沢山彼らのステージを観ました。
もちろんPAT METHENY GROUPなんかはバイブルの様に聴いてました。
あのグループの楽曲達はまさにLYLE MAYSそのものだと思います。
アメリカの原風景が浮かんでくる様なメロディーと壮大なハーモニー。
まさに天才です。
ここ何年かはずっと病気を繰り返していて大変だったみたいです。
しかし何だろう、凄く寂しいです。。
今日は彼の曲を沢山聴きます。。
さて明日は経堂Crazy Loveでピアノレスカルテットです。
皆NYで武者修行経験をして来たメンバーです。
是非熱い演奏を聴きに来てください☆
This morning, I learned that Lyle Mays died as 66 yesterday.
He was known as Member of Pat Metheny Group.
I watched their show so many time when I lived in US.
I was listening their music all the time like bible.
I think that group’s songs are exactly like Lyle Mays music.
The melody is like the original landscape of the United States and the harmony is magnificent.
He is genius.
He seems to have been sick for the last few years and had a hard time.
I feel so lonely without him. I’ll listen a lot of his songs today.
By the way, I’ll perform as quartet at Kyodo Crazy Love tomorrow.
They are all members who have experienced hard training in NY.
